St. Alphonsus Event Page

On Saturday April 15th St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Covington celebrated the Easter Vigil Mass with Reverend Martin Orjianioke as the celebrant. This is the night that “shall be as bright as day” as proclaimed by the Exsultet, an ancient church hymn, as we joyfully anticipate Christ’s Resurrection. This is also the time that parishioners welcome new initiated Catholics into the parish. These new Catholics participated in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) which is a formation program to help them understand and experience the teachings and practices of the Catholic Church. Once accepted the new Catholics are considered to be in “full communion” with the Catholic Church and profess their faith to her with the Spirit of this Easter joy. We welcome our newest members to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in the Catholic Diocese of Memphis. In photo are Case Asbill, Father Martin Orjianioke and Barbara Schneider.
